Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, and his team have begun an inspection of secret detention cells, infamously known as ‘Aayna Ghor.’

These facilities are notorious for their use as torture cells under the previous Awami League government.

As part of their visit, they have already toured the joint interrogation facility run by the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) and the inner cells of RAB-2‍‍`s CPC-3 unit.

Next, the delegation is set to visit the Taskforce Intelligence Center at the RAB headquarters.

The inspection party includes representatives from two of the country’s media outlets and a few survivors who experienced firsthand the horrors of these secret cells.

However, a larger group of victims and survivors was notably absent from the visit.

While these visits were underway, protests erupted in Shaheenbagh, led by the platform of families of the disappeared, known as ‍‍`Mayer Daak.‍‍`

Holding placards and chanting for justice, the protesters voiced their frustration over the lack of accountability.

"The victims are still being denied justice," they said, demanding swift action.

The ‍‍`Aayna Ghor‍‍` facilities gained notoriety under the Awami League government when numerous opposition members were allegedly abducted and detained in undisclosed locations.

Many of these detainees were held without trial or formal charges, leading to widespread criticism of the regime.

Some victims were fortunate enough to return to their families after long periods of detention, recounting terrifying stories of abuse and torture.

However, many others remain unaccounted for, with families left in despair.

The interim government, which has set up a ‍‍`Commission on Enforced Disappearances,‍‍` has stated that they have uncovered several ‍‍`Aayna Ghors‍‍` under the control of various security forces.

These secret facilities are believed to have operated for years, housing political prisoners and critics of the former regime.

The revelations and protests have intensified the national debate on accountability, with citizens eagerly awaiting more updates from the government’s investigation.

As more details emerge, the public will be watching closely, hoping for justice to finally be served.
